5 Ways to Spruce Up Your Daily Walk

5 Ways to Spruce Up Your Daily Walk | Euro-American Connections & Homecare

As the summer comes to an end, we wanted to suggest a few ways to make the most out of your walks with clients. Read on to learn the few ways a daily walk can impact you and your loved one’s life in a positive way.

1.) Invite your friends out for a walk

Instead of walking by your neighbors while you’re out on your daily walk and saying hello, make a point to invite them to join you for a few minutes. You’d be surprised at how much you’d enjoy engaging with a few new faces, not to mention your client, while making your way around the block.

2.) Make it intentional

Instead of falling into a routine and taking the same route every day, grab your phone to track your workout! Whether it’s an app or Fit Bit device, getting those steps in each day is critical to your health. You’ll be so proud of yourselves after seeing all the miles you’ve logged.

3.) Listen to an audiobook

It’s easy to fall in love with shows on Netflix and new movies nowadays, but don’t miss out on satisfying your inner bookworm! Between Amazon, Apple Books and Spotify audiobooks, you can download or stream podcasts and e-books to listen to while on your walk. Having this to look forward to is great if you have trouble getting clients outside.

4.) Observe nature

Connecticut boasts incredible wildlife and plants that are hard to come by in other states. Print out a few nature guides, such as a bird watching guide or tree identification sheet, for yourself and your client before you head out the door, and if you can, take your walk in a local park or by a lake to get the best experience.

5.) Walk and dine

Instead of fitting in your walks between meals, take advantage of the great weather and take food along with you. Picnic in the park on a bench, or bring a large blanket and portable chairs along with you to get comfortable. Bring along finger sandwiches, fruits, and maybe a nice cheese platter to celebrate the end of the summer!
