How Gardening Can Help Us Heal
For as long as I can remember, gardening has always been a passion of mine. It brings me to a place where my mind is relaxed and my spirit is uplifted from the visual satisfaction of the surroundings.
I grew up in a similar fear of the unknown as we are experiencing right now. During the Martial law in Poland, we were scared for our safety. There was nothing in the stores that you could buy, no food, no cleaning supplies, no medicine and no clothing. The store shelves were completely empty. Back then we were scared and not sure what the outcome would be. We took each day, day by day and looked for positive things to help us enlighten our lives.
Gardening allows me to get outside into nature with my daughter, to avoid social gathering, get some vitamin D, and reap the benefits of growing organic, healthy vegetables. It also gives me the ability to move and be active in the beautiful surroundings.
Pro tip: You can start your garden with some repurposed plastic containers and once it starts to sprout you can move it outside replanting it to a makeshift garden bed.
So why not start gardening and bring some sunshine into your life. Let today be a new adventure with you and your garden.
