In honor of Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, we wanted to put together a list of things you should know about the disease, warning signs, and ways to keep up with screening!

While men are much more inclined to be informed of their health nowadays, it is critical that caregivers are aware of one of their top health risks – prostate cancer. So, what are some ways you can help them be proactive and stay informed about prostate cancer?

If at risk, what should I do?

  • Talk to a doctor about any confusion, risks, and benefits of getting screened for prostate cancer. Stay as informed as possible!
  • Encourage any male loved one in your life to have these talks starting at age 50.
  • If you know that individual is at high risk, encourage them to get tested even as early as age 40.
  • Rectal exams as well as prostate-specific blood tests will be included in the screening.
