4 Fresh Summer Activities!

Monday, June 18, 2018 - by Euro-American Connections & Homecare

Fresh air is the theme of the summer for the gang here at Euro-American Connections and Homecare. 🙂 As temperatures rise, and the sun lingers in the sky for most of the day, don’t take the summer for granted, and strive to make this the best summer for both yourself and your client.

Here are a few activities, old and new, for you to enjoy together! Don’t forget that sunscreen!

Gone Fishing

Connecticut is home to quite a few beautiful lakes, ponds and streams, not to mention the coastline! If your client used to loved fishing or just spending time on the water, don’t hesitate. Grab their old fishing rod, pack a picnic, chairs and a blanket, and invite some friends over later for a nice fish dinner if you’re lucky! Here is a link to the state’s best fishing spots!

Green Thumb? Great!

Gardening is a favorite pastime for many seniors and caregivers. Try to get outside to water plants every day with your client, and set aside time each week to plant new flowers, vegetables, herbs and more depending on how much space you have. You can even plant some herbs in your client’s kitchen or buy an indoor plant or shrub to bring the summer indoors. Just remember to have fun with it, and think of it as less of a chore!

Join a coffee group

Many clients of ours, and their caregivers, like to set up tea or coffee dates with one or two senior friends and/or their own caregivers each month. There’s nothing better than making good friends that share similar interests and live close by, so this summer, make a plan to meet up with the crew at a local park or public garden to get that fresh air! Make that coffee and tea to go please! 🙂

See the sights!

Connecticut is lucky to boast countless public gardens, national parks, nature walks,  and waterfront observation areas and outdoor shopping plazas for its residents and visitors. Depending on how comfortable your client is with walking, try driving to these areas for a stroll, and looking for areas nearest to their home to make things easier. If they’d rather travel by car, open up your windows, hand your client a roadmap, and enjoy your adventure! Check out Visit CT to explored the many sights and sounds our state has to offer!
