On February 10th, we were delighted to receive a phone call from the daughter of our client last week, a 92-year old retired artist who benefits from Euro-American Homecare’s wonderful live-in caregivers. This was just a few days after Connecticut was hit with the first major snowstorm of the year.  That same day, our five-day caregiver Hawa Aphy was returning to her assignment after a few days off. The change of caregivers was to take place at 9:00 a.m.

Since getting into a terrible car accident that had totaled her car just a few months back, Hawa had been getting to work via public transportation. Rather than calling out as the storm was only getting worse, she took the 6:00 a.m. city bus, and walked three blocks to the client’s home to make certain she was there before the 9:00 a.m. start time.

Despite the storm, she made a decision that impacted not just her client, but her fellow caregiver that, thanks to Hawa, was able to be relieved and return home safely. Our client’s daughter complemented Hawa on her “take charge” decision, and recognized that it was because of her dedication to Euro American Homecare and her client that her mom did not go without care that day.

We would like to recognize our fantastic caregiver Hawa Aphy for her extraordinary efforts! We thank her for assuming such responsibility, taking initiative and being true to what the commitment of being a great caregiver.

With much appreciation,

The Euro-American Homecare Team
