Being bedbound is a difficult stage to be in: activities and movements becomes limited, you are constantly in need of assistance and generally, life is just not the same. Everything changes down to simplest chores and routines.

People who are bedridden are advised to exercise to prevent their muscles from atrophy and shortening. Muscle atrophy, more commonly known as wasting, occurs when the muscles become thin and weak because of the lack of movement or stretching over a long period of time. The longer a patient is bound to the bed, more and more muscles are in danger of atrophy.
